I had this email sent to me all the way from Australia describing a sighting from Hull way back in 1974...........

"I've just came across your site, and thought I would share my story with you. The story may be hard to believe but never the less is true."

"In the Summer of 1974 I was 15 years old and living at home in East Hull, U.K. Bilton Grange (Staveley Road) with my mother, who was a Barmaid at 'The Crown' pub Holderness Rd. It would of been about 10.30pm and I went outside to see if I could see my Mam coming down the street after work, so I could make her a cuppa. I saw her about 100 yards away and she appeared to be waving at me. Anyway after a few seconds I turned around to go inside and put the kettle on for her, when just coming over the house I saw a UFO (hence my mothers waving)."

"It was very large almost as big as the house (we lived in a 4 bedroomed) and it was completely silent, it was travelling very slowly, only about 10 mph. It had lights, and was 'cone' shaped, not unlike the UFOs on the TV programme 'UFO'.

Anyway back in 1974 my Sister and Brother in-law where living with us, so I ran upstairs and told them to grab the camera (they had been taking photos in the back garden that afternoon), But ironically they used all the film. (I told you this would be hard to believe). We all rushed downstairs together and watched as this 'thing' slowly came over the roof. I would estimate it was only about as high as 2 houses, so very low.

It was a beautiful clear evening, and could not be mistaken for a star,planet, or anything man made. The whole family saw it, and Me and my Brother in-law followed it on foot from Staveley Road, to "Little Park" a distance of about 1 mile before we lost sight of it, it disappeared over fields at the back of the park. When we returned, my brother in law rang the police to tell them , but they thought he had been drinking (which he had not), and didn't take the story seriously. I seem to think we also rang Leconfield airforce base, but they saw nothing on their radar.

I realise that more than 200,000 people lived in Hull at that time and as far as I can recall no one else saw it.
