Son Of Nessie In Sweden - Apparently, in Sweden tourists are going Nessie crazy after it has been claimed, a egg has been hatched which was taken from Loch Ness. The egg was huge and light-green in colour. Bosses at the Gota Canal insist they were given a egg three years ago, and they hatched it recently and hope that the "Son of Nessie" will lead to a tourist boom. The Gota Canal stretches for 220 miles and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and has tourists offices at various points along it's length. The egg was lowered into the Vattern and now, in 2004 it seem that when an expedition was sent to the place where the egg was left, they found an eggshell and eye witnesses are reporting inexplicable phenomena on the lake. Have they succeeded, or is this just a ploy to get tourists to visit. It would be nice to think that they had.

Is Alien Life Out There? - According to scientists who are searching the skies for signs of alien intelligence, alien life will be discovered within 20 years or not at all. In California experts have said that they will need another two decades to finish analysing radio signals from 100 billions stars in the Milky Way. Seti (The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) has already spent four decades searching the skies and checking radio waves for patterns that would show they came from intelligent beings, but have to date found nothing.Seth Shostak who is the senior astronomer at the Seti Institute in Mountain View, California said "Signs of intelligent life - if any existed - would be found within 20 years." His claim is based on accepted assumptions about the chances of alien civilisations existing and on the projected increase in computer power, here on Earth.

In 1961 he used a formula which included factors such as the number of stars with planets, how many of those planets might have life and the likelihood of life evolving to an advanced stage. He concluded that there should be between 10,000 and a million transmitting aliens in the galaxy. Seti have a one-hectare Allen Telescope Array at the Mountain View complex. Because any Aliens will probably be between 200 and 1,000 light years away, a radio message sent from the Earth would take centuries to reach any intelligent beings out there, and the equal amount of time for a reply from them.

Nasa's Spacecraft Finally On Way To Mercury - It got delayed for a day but at Cape Canaveral, Florida. the Messenger spacecraft has finally been launched to Mercury.

The craft has twin solar wings, made up of a couple thousand little mirrors to reflect the intense sunlight in Mercury's presence. The wings are made up of two-third mirrors and one-third electricity producing solar cells. Diode heat pipes which are burrowed into the insulated spacecraft will radiate internal heat from all the electronics. When the Messenger passes between the sun and Mercury, it will get extremely hot, then these pipes will shut down and the craft will be like a house with all the windows closed on a sweltering, steamy afternoon. Because of Messenger's flight plan, it will not get too hot for too long.

Messenger will travel 5 billion miles from Earth to reach Mercury even though Mercury is 50 million miles from Earth at it's closest approach. It is not possible to travel direct to Mercury, which would be a trip of a few months, so the spacecraft must swing once past Earth, twice past Venus and thrice past Mercury before slowing down enough to slip into orbit around Mercury. The estimated arrive time at Mercury is set at March 2011.

In 1974 and 1975 Mariner 10 was Nasa's last Mercury lookout. It was equipped with an umbrella for shade and it flew by Mercury three times. It provided the first close up pictures of the planet which by today's standards are poor. The photo's which will be taken by Messenger will be superior to these.

Messenger which has cost $427 millions is part of Nasa's Discovery programme.Mercury's year last 88 days - Earth days. and is an average 36 million miles from the sun. Earth by comparison is 93 million miles from the sun and it takes 4 times as long to circle it. The surface temperature on Mercury changes a radical 1,100 degrees from day to night, from 800 degrees to minus 300 degrees.

When it's mission is complete in 2012, Messenger will keep orbiting Mercury until eventually it will crash onto the surface. On one of Messenger's most heat-resistant surfaces a pair of U.S. Flags, decals are placed. Apparently, the spacecraft team want to leave a flag on Mercury to show for all time, that America was there first.

International Space Station - During Tuesday's space walk, a glitch cut off communications and allowed the international space station to drift off course. Apparently it was the result of anomalies that engineers have been trying to resolve for months. A special contingency procedure was developed, it failed to work as planned. Various explanations have been given and some new accounts indicate that the station's stabilizing gyroscopes were overloaded by the crew's strenuous work replacing equipment at the Russian end of the station. But in Moscow, a spokesmen for Russia's space Agency blamed the American's stabilizers and the rough handling of the station by the two men in orbit who were Nasa astronaut Mike Fincke and the Russian cosmonaut Gennady Padalka. According to Nasa, a U.S. Russian team determined last month that the station was likely to be forced out of proper orientation by a feature of the Russian spacesuits the men were wearing. Apparently, similar drifts have been seen on earlier spacewalks.

When the spacewalkers are out of the station, to keep them cool whilst working the Russian made Orlan suits use a standard technique that involves the evaporation of water ice in the backpacks. This process results in a weak spray of water molecules from a small port in the packs. This technology has been used in various forms on spacewalks for decades without problems. But in recent years spacewalkers have managed to venture further and further out into space from the space station's centre of mass and the result is that the weak spray actually exerts a significant "Push" on the station.

During a spacewalk in February, ground controllers were astonished to see a slow flexing of the entire station, with a period of 30 to 40 minutes. The last two pulses reached about three quarters of the way to overloading the control gyroscopes. If this had happened, it would have automatically activated the rocket thrusters to restore the station's orientation.. Engineers warned that there was a possibility that the disturbance could result in the loss of attitude control within a few hours and that was exactly what happened. During the walk, Russian's radioed a warning to the crew, Padalka and Fincke and they got down out of the exhaust plumes of the rocket thrusters. Nasa officials did not have any information on how far out of alignment the station had drifted during the period but said it was quickly realigned and the spacewalk activities resumed. Padalka and Fincke return to Earth in mid-October and have one more spacewalk to make before then. The outing will also require Russian spacesuits to be worn and will involve more work near one end of the station so the "phantom force" can be expected again.

Lights Seen Over Shepton Mallet - On the evening of the Blue Moon, 31st July, lights were seen by Sky-gazers in mid-Somerset. Three lights in the sky were first seen by local residents at about 10pm. and other saw the same thing at 11pm. One sighting was reported in Stoney Stratton, near Evercreech where a birthday party barbecue was being held. The three lights were said to move upwards slowly and then disappeared. Another family in Shepton Mallet also saw three lights two described as like "orange balls of flame" and the other one as a "yellow flickering flame". The three lights were said to have moved upwards slowly and then disappeared. Video was taken by one of the families. The lights appeared 20 minutes later. Tina and Stuart Covell-Palmer of Roman Villas saw the objects in the sky and they said they were moving slowly and started going upwards diagonally, then changing to vertically. One of them was spinning and the others were orange balls, varying in colour. A former chairman of Shepton Mallet Town Council said that he witnessed the phenomenon and said that it reminded him of the searchlights that he saw during the war.

Sightings Of UFO's At A Record High - So far this year more than 400 encounters of flying objects have been recorded. Translucent, saucer-shaped objects in British Columbia were seen and mysterious lights buzzing motorists in New Brunswick were reported and at the end of July, more than 400 stories of curious encounters were filed compared with just over 300 by this time last year. The total recorded last year was 673 and according to Chris Rutkowski, research co-ordinator for the Winnipeg-based organisation, the total for 2004 is going to be definitely more. At a military base in Beaverbank, N.S. on the 23rd April, three people spotted several lights in the east, including a slow moving red object bobbing up and down. Then suddenly, a second red light appeared, swooping in and making the first one climb upwards and fly over it.

In July, in an incident at Rosemont, Quebec, a couple saw a very bright red light move slowly westward. It was travelling low, to low for an aeroplane or helicopter, the object plunged to the ground and disappeared after about a minute.

In Edmonton Park on the 23rd June, a couple on the hill watched four distinct lights hover above them. They thought it was some sort of satellite. The lights gathered together, close in the sky and spread out again. They travelled in one direction for a while and then curved back in a very sharp turn in the other direction. They watched it for 90 minutes. In Alberta, 61 sightings have been reported up to the end of July compared to 76 in the all of last year. There were 50 in Manitoba almost double the total for 2003, and in Sasskatchewan the total reported is 19 topping last year's of 13.

It was reported that the pilot of the Prime Minister reported seeing a "very bright light" falling through the air, with smoke trailing it, whilst the aircraft passed over Suffield, Alta. on March 21st.

Latest Pictures Of The " Face On Mars" - NASA has just released the highest-resolution picture yet (according to them) of the so called "Face on Mars" which was first taken in 1976.

The rock formation, pictured by the Viking 1 orbiter has always looked like a "Face" and some people saying that it was carved by an aline civilisation, but much sharper cameras on board the Mars Global Surveyor show that the rock does not look very human at all.

The new picture was taken on the 8th April, and according to NASA, it destroys the argument that it is an ancient alien artefact. According to NASA, the first picture taken by Viking was a trick of light and that the new picture proved that the "Face" is nothing more than a hill.

The spacecraft arrived in orbit around Mars in 1997 and began its extended mission in February.

It don't know what anybody else thinks, but to me, it still looks like a "Face

Claim Of Discovery Of E.T. Spaceship In Russia - On 30th June, 1908 what was believed to be a meteorite exploded and crashed a few kilometre's above the Tunguska river. The blast was felt hundreds of kilometre's away and over 2000 square kilometre's of Siberian forest was devastated.

The Tunguska blast which was in a desolated part of Siberia has remained one of the 20th century's biggest scientific mysteries, but now Russian scientists say they have discovered the wreck of an alien device at the site of the unexplained explosion over a hundred years ago.

The scientists who belong to the Tunguska space phenomenon public state fund, say they have found remains of an extraterrestrial device that allegedly crashed near the Tunguska river in Siberia in 1908. The findings also include a 50 kilogram rock which they have sent to the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk for analysis.

Solar Sailing - A delicate material that will enable spacecraft to reach distant planets has been unfurled successfully in space for the first time. The delicate material has been tested by the Japanese Institute of Space Astronautical Science onboard an S-310 rocket on the 9th August. The metallic solar sails reflect photons from the Sun and the solarsails should theoretically receive momentum in the opposite direction which will propel a spacecraft forward. As it glides along, it builds up ever more speed, and spacecraft should be able to reach distant objects in record time. The difficulty was finding a material that could be unfurled to cover a large area whilst remaining lightweight and sturdy enough. The design tested by the Japanese space agency employed a reflective polyimide resin only 0.0075 millimetres thick.

The Japanese rocket carrying the two sails was launched from Uchinoura Space Centre in Kagoshima, southern Japan at 15.15 local time on Monday. At a height of 150 kilometres the first solar sail, a circular configuration with four separate segments was unveiled. At 170 km. altitude this sail was released and a second deployed. It was of similar design but with six individual segments. After 6 minutes and 40 seconds after take off the rocket carrying the experimental solar sails crashed into the ocean off the coast of Kagoshima.

The principle behind the solar sail has yet to be proven to work, one physicist states that it might prove impossible, but those behind solar sailing remain confident of their goal.

Town Seeks Aid For Facilities To Watch For Visitors - A Polish town is planning to ask the European Union for the sum of $126 million so it can build facilities for the hundreds of visitors that visit the town to see the mysterious crop circles which keep appearing.

The crop circles have been appearing in the town of Wylatowo, western Poland for four years, they have appeared in farmers' fields where grain has been flattened often in intriguing complex patterns. The circles have also drawn interest from the UFO; enthusiasts.

The town wants to fix the sewer system and put up a campsite for the visitors, from Poland and from elsewhere in Europe.

UFO Seen By Russian Astronaut - USSR Hero Vladimir Kovalenopk who spent 217 days living in space does not exclude the existence of extraterrestrial civilisations. He states that when he was working at the Salyut orbital station, he saw something strange in a porthole one day. The object was the size of a finger and he was surprised to see it was an orbiting object. He called his partner Viktor Savinykh to have a look at the object and it was hard to determine the size and the speed of the object they saw Savinykh was going to take a picture of the object but the UFO suddenly exploded and only clouds of smoke were left. The object split into two interconnected pieces. which looked like a dumbbell. He immediately reported it to Mission Control.

What the two astronauts saw that day remains but Kovalenok has learned that specialists had registered considerable radiation emission on the day the astronauts saw the object. Kovalenok says he does not believe it when astronauts say they have never seen anything extraordinary in space.

Cities Found On The Moon - According to Pravda on October, 2002, cities and various other buildings along with a flying saucer were found on the moon when we went there, but the findings were not published as we were not psychologically ready for it.

According to the official press release. NASA scientists and engineers reported the results of their discoveries at a briefing at the Washington National Press club on the 21st March, 1996. Man made structures and objects were discovered on the Moon. The Soviet Union used to own some photographic material proving the presence of such activity on the Moon. The activity which was discovered was not identified. Video films and photo's made by the US astronauts during the Apollo programme were shown during the briefing, but was not shown to the public. NASA specialists said "It was difficult to forecast the reaction of the people to the information that "creatures" had been or still are on the Moon. In addition, there were some other reasons which were beyond the control of NASA." Is this the reason why suddenly we stopped the missions to the Moon?

Richard Hoagland said that NASA is still trying to alter photographic materials before they are published in public catalogues and files. They do some retouching or are partially refocusing them while copying. Some investigators along with Hoagland suppose that an extraterrestrial race had used the Moon as a terminal station during their activity on the earth. These suggestions are confirmed by the legends and myths of different nations here on Earth.

Apparently, ruins of lunar cities stretch for many kilometre's. Huge domes on massive basements and numerous tunnels and other constructions have been seen. Some partially destroyed objects on the lunar surface are definitely not of natural geological formation. They are of complex organisation and geometrical structure. In the upper part of Rima Hadley, not far from the place where the Apollo 15 landed, a construction surrounded by a tall D-shaped wall was discovered. Upto now different artefacts have been discovered in 44 regions. The NASA Goddard Space Flight Centre and the Houston Planetary Institute investigated the regions. Mysterious terrace shaped excavations of rock were discovered near the Tiho crater. The concentric hexahedral excavations and the tunnel entry on the terrace side are not the results of natural geological processes, they look very much like open cast mines. Near the crater Copernicus a transparent dome is raised above the crater edge. The dome is unusual, as it glows white and blue from inside. Discovered in the upper part of the area known as "The Factory" is an unusual objects, a disk of about 50 metres in diameter standing on a square basement surrounded with walls. There is a rectangular area between the factory and the crater Copernicus which is 300 metres wide 400 metres long. Photo AS10-32-4822 taken by an Apollo 10 astronaut shows a one mile long object called "Castle" which is at the height of 14 kilometres and casts a distinct shadow on the lunar surface. It seems to consist of several cylindrical units and a large conjunctive unit. The internal structure of the Castle is clearly seen in one of the pictures, which gives the impression that some parts of the object are transparent. At the briefing when Richard Hoagland had requested originals of the Castle picture for the second time, no pictures were found at all. They disappeared even from the list of pictures made by the Apollo 10 crew. Only intermediate pictures of the object were found in the archives which did not depict the internal structure of the object.

When the Apollo 12 crew landed on the lunar surface, they stated that they were being observed by a half-transparent, pyramidal object which was hovering just several meters above the lunar surface and shimmered with all the colours of the rainbow against the black of the sky. In 1969 the astronauts saw the object again. Astronaut Mitchell said that he was constantly turning his head around, because he felt that he was not alone on the Moon, he felt that they were being watched.

A Mission Control specialist said "Our guys observed ruins of the Lunar cities, transparent pyramids, domes and God know what else, which are currently hidden deep inside the NASA safes." It is interesting to note that the triangular shaped object shimmering all different colours has sometimes been sighted by people here on Earth.

New Moons Discovered Around Neptune - Five new satellites and one candidate Moon has been found orbiting the planet Neptune which makes its total of moons to 13.

Two of the moons orbit in the same directions as the planet rotates, whiles the orbits of the others are opposite to Neptune's spin. According to astronomers the tiny outer satellites where probably captured asteroids. Any outer satellites the planet once had were thought to have been destroyed by cataclysmic events connected to the capture of Neptune's moon Triton.

The new moons, named S/2002 N1 to N4 and S/2003 N1 are in eccentric, tilted orbits. They are all between 30 km and 50km in diameter. A sixth candidate moon which has been named cO2N4 was discovered on the 14th August 2002. According to researchers, this could be Centaur, an object that has migrated from the outer Kipper Belt, but because of lack of movement relative to Neptune, it is more consistent with it being a satellite.

These satellites are unlikely to have condensed from material around Neptune, instead they may be the product of a parent body that once collided with Neptune's other moon Nereid. They were then moved into their orbits by the capture of Triton from the Kiuper Belt.
