UFO's Seen Over Iran - In Northern Iran residents have reported several UFO's moving at a low altitude and emitting different colours according to the State News Agency IRNA.

In the North Western city of Tabriz. Saina Haghlish a resident said he saw one of the objects flashing red, green and blue which moved slowly from the east to the west. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, identical sightings were also reported over the north eastern town of Ghonbad-Kavous. but an astronomy professor Ajab Shirizadeh said they could be extra-planetary craft but they also could be spy or communication satellites.

3 Million Worms Heading For Space - 3 million Caenorhabditis worms were onboard the Russian rocket that has just taken off for the International Space Station on Monday. They are hoping to provide answers on how weightlessness and cosmic radiation may effect humans. Some 15 scientists, Canadian, French, Japanese and U.S. have joined forces as part of an "ice-first" project.

Onboard the Soyuz rocket is American Edward Michael Fincke, Dutchman Andre Kiupers and Russian Gennady Padalka. The Rocket was launched from Moscow's Kazkhstan Pad. The "ice-first" project is one of 21 experiments that Kiupers, an Astronaut from the European Space Agency (ESA) will conduct during his 9 day mission at the station.

If the worms spend 10 days in space exposed to cosmic radiation and weightlessness, it will be the equivalent of 10 years in space for humans. Some 20 scientist have placed their samples of blood, bone and seed to be carried into space. The information gained will be useful to counter harmful radiation from long haul space flights, like to Mars, which would take 2 years. The worms would be frozen upon their return to earth and divided between the labs taking part in the project. Radiation effects, weightlessness and the aging process will all be studied. Astronaut Padalka, and Fincke are at the International Space Station for 6 months and will make two space walks in June and August. Kiupers will stay for 9 days before returning to earth with Foale and Kalery on the 30th April. They have been there since last October.

Nasa's Scramjet. X-43A - Nasa's new experimental jet the X-43A, which uses the oxygen from the air itself, has just reached Mach 7 in the atmosphere above the Pacific Ocean.

The small automated craft was dropped from a huge converted B.52 bomber. It was then accelerated by a standard Pegasus rocket. When it reached Mach 7, which is 7 times the speed of sound, the X-43A separated and the scramjet kicked in. Atmospheric oxygen was scooped up and then combined with the onboard hydrogen it propelled the X-43A to record air speeds. They are hoping that in future tests the X-43A may well reach Mach 10.

International Space Station - Gyroscope Down! - Just hours after a new crew arrived at the Space Station for a 6 months mission, the Gyroscope has gone down. Another Gyroscope failed 2 years ago, and this means that a space walk will be required in the coming weeks. Nasa maintenance manager Mike Suffredini at the Johnson Space Centre in Houston, Texas said that they cannot control the vehicle without at least two gyros.

Apparently it is not the gyro itself, but a switch located on the outside of the craft which is the problem. To put the problem right will need a space walk or extra-vehicle activity (EVA). The team is looking for the right time and technique to conduct the EVA.

The Changing Shape Of Airplane Wings - Engineers at Penn Sate have developed a concept of morphing airplane wings. To maximize a planes efficiency they have developed a morphing technology that changes the shape of the airplane wings like a birds and are covered with a segmented outer skin like the scales of a fish.

The professor of aerospace engineering Dr.George Lesieutre who leads the project says:- "Airplanes today are a design compromise. They have a fixed-wing structure that is not ideal for every part of a typical flight. Being able to change the shape of the wings to reduce drag and power, which vary with flight speed, could optimize fuel consumption so that commercial planes could fly more efficiently."

Morphing wings will be useful for military and defence and homeland security when applied to unmanned surveillance planes that need to fly quickly to a designated point, then spend some time at slow speed looking around and then return at high speeds. Small swept wings will be required, but at long periods at slow speeds, this requires long narrow wings. This design of the Penn State team can change both wing area and cross section shape to accommodate both slow and fast flight requirements.

The essential features of the Penn State concept are a small-scale, efficient compliant cellular truss structure, highly distributed tendon actuation and a segmented skin. The cellular truss structure is the skeleton of the wing. The skeleton is formed of repeating diamond-shaped units made from straight metal members connected at the angles with bendable or "compliant" shape memory alloys. Tendons in each unit, like the ropes that shape a tent, can pull the units into new configurations that will spring back, thanks to the shape memory alloys, when the tendon tension is released.

The underlying structure can undergo radical shape change and the overlaying skin of the wing must be able to change with it. A concept that seems to hold great promise is a segmented skin which will be composed of overlapping plates, like the scales of a fish. The team involved in the concept have built a tabletop model of the compliant cellular truss structure and a computer graphic model of the wing structure.

Iran Gripped By UFO FeverDozens of reports in Teghran has caused a fever amongst the locals. Is Iran about to be invaded by creatures from outer space? as people see flying saucers racing across the sky. Cartoons of flying saucers have been on the front pages and state TV. showed a sparkling white disc which was filmed over Tehran on Tuesday night. More UFO's have been seen which beam out green, red, blue and purple rays over the northern city of Tabriz and Ardebil. In the Caspian Sea province of Golestan, the official IRNA News Agency says the same was seen.

According to the newspapers in 8 towns, people rushed out into the streets on Tuesday night to watch a bright light which kept dipping in and out of the clouds. They all claimed it was extraterrestrial and not of this earth. Sa'dollah Nasiri-Qeydari who is head of the astronomical society in Iran said that the stories were unfounded and that flying saucers do not exist. He insisted that his telescopes would have picked up any invaders from outer space.

Has Atlantis Been Found? - A team of explorers led by the US claim that the ancient city of Atlantis lies on the seabed between Cyprus and Syria. With the aid of unique underwater maps, a US researcher claims he has got evidence to prove that the fabled city of Atlantis really existed.

Californian-based Robert Salmas says he has pinpointed the city of Atlantis to a sunken land mass off the southern coast of Cyprus, but the discovery has been greeted with mirth by the Mediterranean islands tourism office.

Liquid Body Armour Developed - At the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, Liquid armour for Kevlar vests is one of the new technologies being developed which will save Soldiers lives. This new type of body armour, which is light and flexible will allow soldiers to be more mobile.

The key component of this liquid armour is the shear thickening fluid. STF is composed of hard particles which are suspended in a liquid (polyethylene glycol, which is non-toxic) and can withstand a wide range of temperatures. Other components of STF are hard, nano-particles of silica. This combination results in a material with unusual properties.

During normal handling, the STF is very deformable and flows like a liquid but if hit by a bullet, it goes into rigid material which prevents the bullet from penetrating the soldiers body. To make the liquid armour, the STF is soaked into all layers of the Kevlar vest. The Kevlar fabric then holds the STF in place and also stops the bullet. The fabric can be soaked, draped and sewn into any style just like other fabric.

This is an exciting new technology and the benefits of this technology is immense. Police Officers could benefit from this and also Prison Officers.

Venus - The UFO Planet - Venus is often mistaken for a UFO as it twinkles in the sky. The blue-white light which beams in the night sky just looks like a UFO to people as they drive along the road in their car.

Venus is the second planet from the Sun and is the brightest of all the planets. Sirius which is the brightest star in the night sky, looks feeble compared to Venus. This week Venus (Magnitude 4-5) is at maximum brightness and is 8 times brighter than the planet Jupiter. (Magnitude -2.3) and it is 23 times brighter than Sirius (Magnitude -1.1.) and 275 times brighter than the planet Mars (Magnitude +1.6).

Venus can actually cast shadows, only faint, but only the Sun and the Moon outshine it. Venus is so bright at the moment because Venus is getting close to the Earth. It is only 72 million km. away. The surface of the planet is bone-dry and hot enough to melt lead. Venus's atmosphere, 90 times heavier than Earth's, and it's almost pure carbon dioxide. The clouds are made of sulphuric acid and a Russian Robot spaceship sent to Venus, Venera 13. lander, operated for 127 minutes - the all time record. It was then overwhelmed by the acid, heat and the crushing pressure of Venus's atmosphere.

UFO Sighting In Mexico - Images of 11 unidentified flying objects which were captured by Mexican air force pilots have been confirmed by Mexico's Defence Department, but a Canadian space observer says that whilst they are unidentified they cannot go further than that. Ivan Semeniuk of the Discovery Channel said that a videotape had been made available to the media on Tuesday and showed bright objects. Some were like sharp points and others more like headlights moving rapidly. The images were taken on the 5th March by a pilot using infrared equipment.

AT the time they were conducting a normal anti-drug trafficking surveillance flight over the state of Campeche. Only 3 objects showed up on the aircraft's radar and according to some reports, lights surrounded the plane. They were moving along with them and moving at extremely height speed.

Rare Astronomical Event To Occur - Next month on the 8th June weather permitting, an astronomical event that has not occurred for 122 years will occur. Europe, the Middle East and much of Asia and Africa will offer prime viewing for the transit of the planet Venus across the sun. For 6 hours the public will be able to see the planet named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty passing directly between the Earth and the Sun.

This is a once in a lifetime experience as the last transit was on the 6th December 1882 and the next one will not be until 6th June 2012. This will not be visible in Britain and other parts of Europe. Gordon Bromage, a professor of Astronomy at England's University of Central Lancashire told a news conference on Tuesday, that something wonderful and marvellous would be happening on the 8th June and will be witnessed and experienced by millions of people all over the world. (This is the date of our next meeting, as well folks)

This is a rare astrological event, he stated. The transit, when Venus will appear as an intense black dot about 1/30th the diameter of the sun, will be visible in the morning in Britain., and scientists warn people not to look at the sun with the naked eye or through a telescope or camera. A solar filter or eclipse viewer should be used and only for very short periods.

During the transit, the orbits of Venus and the earth, which tilt at different angles around the sun will line up exactly. It occurs only 4 times in every 243 years. There are two December transits, eight years apart and then 121.5. years later there are two June transits, also eight years apart. Then after 105.5. years, the cycle begins al over again.

More UFO's Seen - According to KGB.TV 4 a man in Mission, Texas says he captured a UFO on his video camera that looks a lot like the UFO's just recently seen over Mexico. One night at about midnight he was awaken by his dogs and when he went outside he saw these bright lights dancing around in the sky. He says he had never seen anything like them before. There were as many as 15 lights captured on his video and they seemed to be changing shape. He states that they were spinning, some looked like mushrooms and different colours were seen.

Over in East Kilbride, Scotland, several people saw a huge silver object hovering over the Kingsgate Mall. One of the witnesses said it was silver in appearance, hovering and looked like the dishes that you see on the side of television transmitters It was huge and pulsating. Then the object just disappeared.

In Dayton, Ohio a UFO caused all the electricity to go off one early morning in Centerville. There was a flood of calls to 911 at the time. One witness states it was like an alien ship, right outside my window and then it blew up. It was like a bomb going off. It was going to the power lines and then the school and it was streaming lights and flashing. It would go "BOOM" and then all the electrics would drop. It was described as disc shaped and the size of a small house with a burnt polished aluminium surface and flew about 15 feet off the ground.

The Police at Centerville says they are convinced it was a transformer blowing. a Mr. T. Tathan, of Dayton Power and Light states "One brief outage in the morning affected 200 customers and doesn't believe it was any UFO."

Crop Circles Investigated By British Government - Over a decade ago a secret meeting to debate the meaning of corp. circles was held by the British Government according to Crop Circle investigator George Wingfield. In The Wall Street Journal of the 28th August, 1989, it was stated "British agriculture and defence officials want to know more about the mysterious crop circles which have appeared across the countryside... so does Queen Elizabeth, who is said to have sharply questioned Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher about the circles recently."

Nick Redfern writing in Phenomena Magazine says it isn't the first time the British government have investigated crop circles. According to a recently declassified file, "The early days of 1940 and 1941 produced an avalanche of reports about methods used in communicating to each other and to the enemy. According to reports from Poland, Holland, France and Belgium, they showed that they used ground markings for the guidance of bombers and paratroopers, and such ground markings might be the cutting of cornfields into guiding marks for aircraft." NIck Redfern reports that during World War 11, British spies were sent into the fields to examine crop circles and decide if they were Nazi aircraft signals.

So it looks likes crop circles are not as new as we thought, They apparently were investigated by high level government departments over 60 years ago and still we do not have the answer as to who is making them and what are the patterns telling us.
