UFO Captured On Camera - On January 4th a security camera captured the image of a UFO slowly falling "like a falling leaf" in the sky over Kansas City. The reporter who interviewed several witnesses, then saw the same object the following night. The object was caught on the security camera of Trigen Energy Plant and security worker Bob Lindsay said "The UFO was a really light yellow in colour, not quite white and not quite yellow." Tom Armstrong, a Nasa astronomer thinks it could have been space junk, falling from space, but according to Norad, nothing man-made entered the atmosphere on that date.

In the Washington (North Carolina) Daily News was a story from Clarence Everett, who saw a group of UFO's on Friday 16th January. He first saw what looked like a star blinking, and then suddenly, it moved. "It was a solid white light" he said. It began to make a series of erratic motions and then he noticed another UFO, lower in the sky and then two red balls come above the tree line. He told his brother-in law and his wife to witness this and then 3 white lights and another red one came up. One minute they were red and then they were white. Altogether they saw 12 lights, in 4 groups of 3. They then formed a triangle and flew off in different directions. He said the last UFO's were an "intense white light, along with 1 red and 1 blue light that turned on and off." He said no sound was heard from them.

The Washington News reporter who was writing the story also saw the Ufo's on the following night. He said he saw a very bright white light which appeared about the altitude of a tall television tower.

Paranoia Setting In At Nasa - The two Martian rovers have both developed hiccups and Nasa have admitted they are getting paranoid. The second rover to land on Mars, Opportunity has developed a small 15 watt power loss. The engineers believe a heater on the shoulder of the robotic arm has been turning on when the temperature drops. According to Jim Erickson the mission manager, this heater is only needed when the arm is in use and it has been turning on unnecessarily. The engineers are closely monitoring the situation, as they are not sure whether it will harm the rover.

The other rover, Spirit has now sent further data and engineers are trying to understand the computer's problems. They think that Spirit does not have sufficient random-access memory to manage all the files in it's flash memory. (I'm no computer expert, but I cannot believe; that this had not been thought of) So, afraid that this will happen on Opportunity, the engineers have deleted recently created, but (according to them) unused computer files from it's flash memory. (This really gets me mad, as we have lost our own rover Beagle 2 and there are Nasa, having landed two rovers and then discovering errors have been made and yet all goes well.)

These two Rovers were part of a single £450 million missions. Spirit was launched on the 10th June and Opportunity on the 7th July, 2003. Spirit landed on the 3rd January and Opportunity landed 3 weeks later.

Sighting Of A Chupacabras - Juan Berrios, a 40 year old driver has never driven his truck since coming across a "Monster." When he reached his truck stop his co-workers stated that his legs were trembling and as Julian was a Catholic, he was making the sign of the cross.

Santa Filomena is a long alleyway in the locality of Viluco in Buin, and upto now, nothing out of the ordinary has taken place. But an undesirable creature has sent fear into the people. A creature that hops across the street, seen with a small wounded animal in it's maw. Local bus drivers of the Buin Maipo route have seen it and decided to speak out after experiencing fear.

At 5.15. hours on 5th January, Berrios was driving through Santa Filomena towards the terminal at Las Vertientes when he suddenly noticed a strange figure in the middle of the road, about 70 metres away. He kept going and about 5 metres away the figure reappeared and he nearly lost control of the vehicle. He said it had what looked like a dog bleeding in it's muzzle and in a single leap, lost itself in the nearby bushes. "I have never seen anything like it" he said. After his second round trip, he was stopped by his co-worker Juan Maulen who asked him to describe what he had seen, and then confessed that he too had see it.

Apparently it was 1.50 metres tall, bipedal animal. It had hind legs like those of a kangaroo. Small curved hands which ended with talons. A sharp mane like a porcupine running along its back and a tail with a rattle. It's muzzle was like that of a fierce wolf and it had several teeth and voracious red eyes. It jumped a lot and could easily jump 5 metres. This certainly seems to fit the description of the Chupacabras of North America.

Europe's Smart 1 Spacecraft - The Smart 1 spacecraft which is en-route to the moon has developed an engine problem. This could leave the spacecraft lost in space. At the European Space Agency, engineers are trying to develop software that they hope will rescue the probe.

Smart 1 is powered by an ion engine. This produces thrust in one direction by accelerating xenon ions in an electric filed in the other direction. This creates only about the same force as the weight of a postcard, but the engine works continuously, gradually increasing the size of the spacecraft's elliptical orbit until it is captured by the Moon's gravitational field. This process takes about 15 months. The engine is extremely fuel-efficient and this is a test to see how it goes before a mission to Mercury.Soon after the spacecraft was launched, the engine started switching off repeatedly. The spacecraft's circuitry is very sensitive to strikes from high-energy protons from the sun. These generate rogue voltage spikes. The engineers build capacitors into circuits to mop up any voltages induced this way. But unfortunately, after launch, the team discovered that the mopping up feature had been omitted from some of the key circuits. So, each time a high-energy proton hit a particular optical sensor, it generated a spike that caused the on-board computer to switch off the engine, called a "Flameout." The problem has been made worst by the high radiation levels that the spacecraft experienced whilst passing through the Earth's radiation belts, and also by the increased solar activity we have had in recent months. Anders Elfving, the engineer who led the vehicle's design team said "It;s the worst radiation environment we have ever experienced on a mission."

Since September, the engine has flamed out 18 times. Usually the ground control can switch the engine back on but Smart 1's unusual trajectory makes the problem more serious. The spacecrafts elliptical orbits must be controlled so the craft reaches it's furthest point from Earth at exactly the same time as it makes it's closest approach to the Moon. This "resonance" gives the vehicle the extra tug it needs to complete its journey. This is a very delicate operation and there are three or four crucial points in this mission when if the engine flames out, the spacecraft will not achieve resonance. If they miss two or three, the spacecraft will not have enough fuel to make it to the moon. The spacecraft is controlled by the most powerful computer ever to fly on a European Spacecraft and Luca Staqgnaro, the missions software specialist has written a programme that will allow the computer to spot flame outs and switch the engine back on immediately. At the European Space Operations Centre, in Darmstadt, Germany Mike McKay who manages the spacecraft's ground operations is confident this will do the trick. But, the teams first attempt at a software fix, overloaded the computer. The team have now developed a streamline version which will be uploaded and they hope this will solve the problem.

Web Surfers To Talk To Spacecraft On The Way To The Moon - California based company TransOrbital have done a deal with the US computer manufacturer Hewlett-Packard which will allow internet users to contact it's craft as it travels through space to the moon. The craft, Trailblazer is the first commercially funded lunar spacecraft which is scheduled to be launched in 2004. It will be equipped with a computer built by Hewlett-Packard and it will receive messages sent via a website. Back on Earth you will then get a brief acknowledgement to indicate your message has been received. But, Space hackers, will be disappointed. Company President Dennis Laurie has pointed out that this computer will be completely separate from the crafts onboard control system. The $20 million lunar mission will have a 80 - 90% change of launching in October or November 2004. It was originally set to be launched in 2001 but suffered two delays. The craft which weights 110 kilogram will be launched from the ex. Soviet cosmodrome in Baikonur, Kazakstan. It will spend about 3 months orbiting the moon, taking high resolution images and video footage. It will then deliberately plunge into the lunar surface. Eventually, TransOrbital hope to develop a craft that can land safely on the surface.It is hoped that these Landers could be used to store data for clients back on earth. This data would be immune from natural disasters back on Earth. But some experts, doubt the viability of this plan. It is notoriously difficult to land on the moon and if they did manage this, the electronics would have to withstand cosmic radiation. Its power source would need to survive the long cold lunar nights, which last two earth weeks. TransOrbital are going to finance this first mission by selling it's lunar imagery. 1000's of people have also signed up to send items to the surface of the moon. These include text messages and even business cards. They will be carried on a 10 kilogram re-enforced capsule. When the craft impacts on the moon, the capsule should burrow 5 metres below the moons crust. To send a business card onboard Trailblazer costs $2500 . Engrave text messages cost $17 and other possessions can be sent for $2500 per gram.

Chupacabra's - In Chile, there is a legend dating from the 1950's that says Chupacabras were living in abandoned gold mines. The Chupacabaras is said to have a kangaroo shaped body and a muzzle that looks like a wolf's. They are frightened of nothing and are known to attack local livestock and wild animals. Two bus drivers came across one of the creatures. Anibal Montes stated "Shadows can be seen running uphill, vanishing into the mine and disappearing. It has been going on for years." Christian Opago who works on the Radio said that 3 years ago he saw a pile of dead rabbits. The only wound on the animals was a hole, like that of a tooth on the right side of the neck and they had been sucked out. This is where they get the name from, Chupacabras are known as "goat suckers." Chickens and ducks have been killed by the same method. Cryptozoologist Alberto Urquyo states that the earliest literature about the Chupacabras dates back to the 18th century. Out of all the cases looked at 40% can be rationally explained, but the remaining 60% cannot. He figures that in 3 years 5500 animals have died in mysterious circumstances.

Jellyfish UFO - Adrian Dalton was in his back garden in Daventry with his son when he noticed two black objects in the sky at a distance. He assumed they were birds until they came closer. When he saw them at close range he noticed they were brown and they had a dark centre. They made a swishing sound and pulsated. He stated "They looked like two brown jellyfish and they were swimming in the sky." In Linthwaite, Alan Robinson saw a more conventional UFO. It was large, bright and flying at cruising speed for about 6 seconds at high altitude. It had no navigation lights on. On the same night Adrian Dalton saw the Jellyfish UFO, a photographer caught a similar object on video tape. This jelly-like UFO has been reported in Guatemala and various other places.

MIceanauts - You have heard of astronauts, well now we are going to get mice in space. £13 million is to be spent to send 15 mice into space. Scientists are going to see how mice will cope living in space for five weeks. They will orbit the earth in a custom built cage, so scientists can see the effects of Martian gravity. When astronauts live on the space station they have suffered serious health problems and this joint US-Australian project is hoped to reveal vital information. The scientists are working on a blueprint for putting men and women on Mars and this will give vital information. Scientists who work for the Mars Gravitational Biosatellite programme in America have designed a one metre spacecraft that will spin and will create the conditions found on Mars It is hoped the project will go ahead in 2006 and this will be the first time mammals will have lived in partial gravity for so long.

Past UFO Sighting In Australia - Two security guards from Darwin airport, Australia, are trying to make contact with anybody else who saw a UFO in 1972. They have put an ad in the Sunday Paper in Darwin to contact them. Rodney Jarvis one of the men who saw the UFO over 30 years ago cannot get it out of his head and thinks about the sighting nearly every week. He is desperate to see if anyone else witnessed it.

Rodney and his friend Fred, were waiting to catch an early flight at 4 am and were sleeping in the car. He looked out of the window and at one point and saw a very large orange light. It was moving very slowly just above the tops of the houses and he could see it in silhouette. At first he thought it was an helicopter, but when it moved across to the left and immediately stopped and reversed back in the opposite direction, he knew that a helicopter couldn't manoeuvre that fast.

He woke Fred up and they both got out of the car and were terrified when as they watched it it zigzagged toward them. It was climbing in altitude and as it passed over them, he put his hand in through the open car window and flashed his lights once. The object then stopped immediately over them. Fred panicked and ran and hid under the eaves of the building nearby but Rodney was hoping to make contact. After about 15 minutes, 2 airport security guards came over to see why car lights were flashing and according to Rodney, they also saw the UFO, which flew straight up in the air and disappeared. He is hoping the security guards will contact him. - I wonder what happened during the 15 minutes?

Culture Of Alien Existence - Since the famous Roswell, New Mexico case in 1947 when a UFO is alleged to have crashed, the cult of the UFO has grown and even alien abduction has now become huge. But Roswell, is not the only city to hold a monopoly on extraterrestrials There are also, several other places which can claim this.

Dreamy Draw is one of them. A recreation area near Phoenix, Arizona. Apparently, according to the story, just 3 months after Roswell in 1947 a UFO crashed there. The remains of 2 - 4 and half foot occupants were taken from the site and kept in a local's freezer until the military came and took them away. According to some, shortly after the crash, Army Corps of Engineers came and built a dam at the site to cover up evidence. In local records in the city of Phoenix, the dam wasn't built until 1973. It is a pity, this could not be followed up to see if this is correct!

Over in Hooper, Colorado, if you want to see a UFO go out to the "UFO Watchtower". Judy Messoline, who was a former cattle rancher, opened the observatory in 2000. Thousands of people have visited, and she claims to have documented numerous sightings.

In Aurora, Texas, a cemetery is supposed to be an alien pilot's burial site. A historical marker tells the legend of a space craft that crashed there in 1897. The exact location of the pilot's grave is unknown though. There is a book called "Aurora Encounter" which tells all about the aliens visit. Whether this is still obtainable I don't know.

Wisconsin must be liked by aliens, it is home to 3 UFO "Capitals of the World".

1st. is Dundee, every summer believers and non-believers gather there to celebrate extraterrestrial visitations. It is called "UFO Daze". Several UFO's have been sighted on the nearby "Highway 67".

2nd. "UFO Capital of the World" is Elmwood. UFO's started to be seen here in the mid 70's. Residents claim to have seen 30 - 50 objects in the sky, which cannot be explained. Every year a festival is held that includes a group called "UFO Watch"

. Last is Belleville, which has a yearly UFO celebration every October.

If you are luckily enough to live near the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in New Mexico, which featured in the movie "Contact". Free guided tours are available. Located near Socorro, 27 radio antennas search the sky looking for signs of intergalactic data. Each antenna is 82 feet in diameter and weighs 230 tons.

Beagle 2 - It is now official. All hopes of finding Beagle 2 are lost. Euro scientists have now ended the search for the Mars probe, Beagle 2 yesterday, 11th February 2004.

They have now opened an enquiry to find out what went wrong.

Excitement Over UFO Picture - One of the finest UFO pictures every taken is how the latest photo of an UFO is being described. A dockyard worker caught the image with his new digital camera on the 28th January 2004, in the early evening above the St. Budeaux, Plymouth. It had a pinkish outer rim with a golden middle and there was a light at it's centre. and it seem to shimmer.

A Royal Navy Team have launched an investigation and photographic experts say that they do not believe the pictures are faked. According to Bob Boyd, chairman of the city's UFO research group, "It is one of the five best he has seen." He stated that there is "No doubt, it is the real thing!" There were no other sightings on this night.and a spokesman for the Plymouth City Airport said it was highly unlikely to be a commercial flight

Within Minutes Of An Asteroid Strike - Last month, astronomers revealed how they came within minutes of alerting the world to a potential asteroid strike. On the 13th January an object 30 m, later designated 2004 AS1, had a 1 in 4 chance of hitting the planet within 36 hours. It would have caused local devastation and the researchers contemplated whether to make a call to President Bush, but new data which was received, finally showed there was no danger.

After this incident, new procedures for raising the alarm are now being revised. The impact, if it had happened would have been somewhere in the Northern Hemisphere. Experts would have bounced radar signals off the huge asteroid to obtain more information about its trajectory. The loss of life would definitely have been much worse than Sept.11th.

The object was discovered by the twin optical telescopes of the Linear automated sky survey in New Mexico. Details were posted on the internet asking that astronomers look out for it, by the Minor Planet Centre in Massachusetts, which is the clearing house for such observations. The object was expected to grow 40 times brighter in the next day, which is a possible sign that is was getting closer and very rapidly. A researcher at Nasa's Jet propulsion Laboratory, looking at available data, sent an e-mail saying that the asteroid had a 25% chance of striking the Earth's Northern Hemisphere in a few days. Clark Chapman and David Morrison, chair of the International Astronomical Union's Working Group on Near Earth Objects then had to contemplate whether to telephone the White House.

"Alien Foetus" Found? - A shocked householder, from Bruce Glazier Terrace, Shotton Colliery, County Durham sparked off an alien alert when he called the police after finding a curled up mess in his back garden. A major police alert was started after the discovery of what looked like a "foetus." The shocked officers immediately called their forensic colleagues and the force surgeon to investigate the grisly find.

It was only after closer inspection that they realised, to the relief of the assembled ranks that it was a child's baby alien toy. They think that the toy which was covered in dirt had been chewed by the owners dog. A force spokesman said it was easy to see why it could have been taken as a foetus. No one was sure what it was and so it had to be treated as a potential crime. Everyone was relieved and saw the funny side when it turned out to be ok. This popular synthetic alien toy is sold by most toy shops and comes complete with its own slime. They are known by the ufo enthusiasts as "greys" due to the colour of the misshaped body.

Aliens Exist, According To Researchers - At the University Medical Centre, Arizona, university professors who specialise in extraterrestrial research gathered along with alien abductees to share their tales of "Out of this World" experiences. A University professor, Gary Schwartz gave a free lecture on "Evidence for Extraterrestrial Life."

Over 50 people attended and the event featured two documentaries and a question and answer session. There were also two Doctor's who attended who believe that extraterrestrial life exists in some form. A cardiologist from Phoenix, Dr. Lynne Kitei gave accounts of her numerous UFO sightings and showed a documentary featuring her home video of the phenomena called "The Phoenix Lights."

It was in 1995 that Kitei, had her first UFO sighting. She was in the bath when her husband started shouting to her to come and see the unusual lights that were hovering outside the bedroom window. There were three amber orbs, about 3 - 6 foot in diameter, about 50 - 70 foot above us she said and they were hovering in a triangular formation. She managed to take a video and still photos of the lights as they dimmed away. Then 2 years later on the 13th March 1997. Kitei saw a mass UFO sighting that occurred in Phoenix and throughout Arizona.

Upto 10,000 people had waited to see the Hall-Bopp comet and they all witnessed the orbs of light (which became known as the "Phoenix Lights"). Panic broke out as people called the Police and Fire Department. They were unusual lights and some described them as being attached to some sort of ship which was more than a mile long. Luke Air Force base could not give any information.

At Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport one air traffic controlled and one commercial pilot had reported seeing the lights, but nothing had shown up on radar. These lights were a mystery until 2000 when the National Guard put on an air show to prove to the public that the mystery was caused by an Air Force Manoeuvre. They flew planes with flares attached to them over the city to "re-enact" the event. But all of the people who witnessed the real event were not impressed and still were sceptical. (This reminds you of Roswell, where they keep constantly keep coming up with what they proposed took place).

Dr. John Mack, professor of psychiatry at Harvard University showed his documentary "Touched" which chronicles his research in alien abductions. He has conducted extensive clinical analysis of abductees and says he can find no psychological disturbances that can account for their behaviour. One man said he had been abducted and taken onboard a space ship where sperm samples were taken after he was forced to mate with an alien female. One woman claimed to have mothered a hybrid, alien/human child. When Kitei asked the audience who were believers, nearly all the people there raised their hands. Kitei said "our solar system is very young, there maybe beings that are billions of years more advanced than us." We may be looking at FM on the AM dial. - This I think is very true.
